The State Of Mesa recently voted and approved an extension of Gubernatorial terms from the existing 2 year terms to the new 4 year terms. This will take effect after a 2026 Mesa Gubernatorial elections. The state assembly voted 210 to 105 to change the term lengths. This comes as voters are concerned that not enough policy is being changed do to the short term limits.
The State has also announced that with the new 4 year terms, candidates can only serve 4 years with it being renewed once(through reelection). Mesa is the first Jesstopian state to do so, and will eventually serve as precursor for other states.
